President's Message

  • April 6, 2011

Wow!  It seems like we just started the school year and suddenly it's April and we've elected new officers.  First off, I'd like to congratulate Sabrina Larsen as our newly elected president as well as the rest of the new 2011-2012 officer team.  You ladies are going to have an amazing year!

Second, I'd like to thank the chapter for making this such an amazing year.  I know the year has not been without a few rough patches, however I am impressed with how everyone has managed to deal with those issues and come out a little bit wiser and a lot closer as a result.

And those times where things just "clicked" - amazing!  Winter RUSH was a superb example.  Sisters spent a week bonding both with each other and with the rushees and everything ran so smoothly.  And the level of excitement during each evening's events was simply amazing!  Heck, it made me want to join Sigma Alpha - and I'm already a member!

Each event of the quarter has brought with it a pocketful of fond memories.  Playing with puppies at the philanthropy event, activating new members, traveling with sisters to Old Sac, and simply going out to dinner with fellow sisters, each time we have a chance to get together I know I'll leave with a smile.  Formal was a blast - the music and the dance floor added an energy to the event that I personally feel was lacking in past years.  Perhaps we should utilize this idea during meetings to "amp up" the enthusiasm! ;)

Now winter quarter grades have been submitted and voting ballots cast, and the chapter is left in the hands of a new "fearless leader".  Meanwhile, I leave the utopian-esque society of Davis for a slightly more secluded place called Hyattville.  The land where horses, dogs, and cattle are all more populous than people.  I take off my backpack and exchange it instead for irrigation boots and a shovel.  I head off into the hills to start anew.... but I digress.

To sum it all up, I'd simply like to say "Thank You" and "Good Luck".  It's been an amazing year and I am so glad to have had this opportunity to meet and work with all of you.  At the same time, I wish you all the best of luck, and I know the chapter will go far!

    Au revoir,

    Marie
