LAMBDA CHAPTER HISTORY
On December 1, 1990, eight women were activated as the Lambda Chapter. These women were Mary Kimball, Bridget Cassey, Lorrinda Fallini, Heather Fields, Anita Lopez, Suzanne Nugent, Elizabeth Williams and Toya Williams. This group of women activated an Alpha Class, but due to unknown circumstances, the organization fell apart and the charter was revoked. In October of 1997, research on Sigma Alpha had begun. Lorrell Kenney contacted Brandi McGinnis, National Board President, and the dream of recreating the Lambda chapter became a reality.
The first meeting was held on January 13th, and officer elections occurred a week later on January 20th. The executive committee was comprised of Lorrell Kenney-President, Stacy Pettigrew-Vice President, Christine Aguiar-Secretary, and Nicole Gibison-Treasurer. The group was recognized as a Sorority in Development (SID) on January 30th. Approximately eight months later, on October 10th, 1998, nineteen women were activated as the charter members of the reestablishes Lambda Chapter.
